If you want a future in the audio industry, then we’re here to help!
Four Weeks For Your Future is our work placement programme and it’s designed to give you real-life, hands on experience in the audio industry. It’s our way of helping you take the first steps in your career or to expand your sound production knowledge.
This is a work experience placement like no other. It isn’t about making teas or doing the filing, you’ll be working alongside our team of talented Producers as they create a diverse range of audio content for Radio 1, Radio 2, 5 Live and more.
Across the first week you’ll be part of the BBC Radio 1 Life Hacks team, working as part of the live show and preparing the weekly podcast. This will mean you’re in the studio, researching topics and getting stuck into creating youth social action content.
Then, you’ll join our BBC Radio 2 team and spend five evenings working on a live music show. From preparing broadcast-ready audio to witnessing what happens when the microphone goes live, you’ll be given a unique insight into what goes into delivering content for the UK’s biggest radio station.
In the third week, your focus will shift to documentaries. There’s no live studio in sight! Instead, you’ll be working on a range of factual long form content for networks including Radio 4 and the BBC World Service.
Finally, you’ll swap music for speech and work alongside our BBC Radio 5 Live team as they deliver the Elis James and John Robins show and a range of podcast content. You’ll be at the centre of the action, researching content and editing audio to go on-air.
When are the placements?
There will be four Four Weeks For Your Future placements available in 2020, taking place in February, May, August and November. Exact dates will be discussed with successful applicants.
